Croatia is riding the wave of tourism success in 2023, with an impressive uptick in arrivals and overnight stays during the first ten months. The latest data from the eVisitor system, encompassing all kinds of tourist traffic, including nautical charter activities, reveals some fantastic figures. From January to October, Croatia welcomed over 19.8 million arrivals and hosted more than 105.8 million overnight stays. That’s a 9 percent increase in arrivals and a 3 percent rise in overnight stays compared to the same period last year. It’s as if Croatia is reclaiming its glory from the remarkable year of 2019.

Diving into the regional highlights, Istria, Split-Dalmatia, Kvarner, Zadar, Dubrovnik-Neretva, Šibenik-Knin, and Lika-Senj have welcomed the most arrivals in the first ten months. Some counties have seen incredible growth, like Dubrovnik-Neretva, where arrivals shot up by 18 percent compared to 2022, and Split-Dalmatia, which saw an 11 percent increase. The capital city, Zagreb, is no slouch either, boasting a remarkable 21 percent increase in arrivals. Even the rest of the continent experienced a 15 percent boost in arrivals, signaling that Croatia is fast becoming an all-season destination.

When it comes to hotspots, travelers have spoken. Dubrovnik, Zagreb, Split, Rovinj, Poreč, and Zadar are on top of the list.

Now, let’s talk about the travelers. Germany takes the lead with 3.3 million arrivals, and right behind them is the home team, Croatia, with 2.5 million arrivals. Slovenia, Austria, and Poland follow with 1.6 million, 1.6 million, and 1.1 million arrivals, respectively.

Domestic travelers were out in force in October, accounting for 214 thousand arrivals. Germany followed closely with 153 thousand arrivals, while Slovenia, Austria, and the USA brought in 80 thousand, 78 thousand, and 63 thousand arrivals, respectively. Croatia continues to charm both international and local travelers, making the most of the challenges and thriving as a premier tourist destination.
