Krapina is a town in northwestern Croatia. The capital of the Krapina-Zagorje County. The name of the city is closely associated with the name of the river that once abounded in freshwater fish carp. “Kajkavski carp” fish called the carp.

From Krapinske medieval fortress – a city on a hill above Krapina, preserved only one building that in 1919 its owner Francis Baron Ottenfels the ruins of a castle donated Krapina municipality. Old Town is a peculiar place of tranquility and peace. All who want to stop the passage of time and experience its sustainability, will come here: lovers believe in the continuity of loving, committed recluse, the flickering light of autumn morning and the forest of dead leaves … young, eager to leave a mark in space and time as history has left its traces preserving this place. Since 1903, the center of tourism in Krapina becomes Kneipp spa. The reason for the arrival of many tourists in Krapina at the beginning of this century, not only Kneipp spa – the famous “fever” as they were then called, but the fact that in Krapina in 1895 came to the discovery of Neanderthal prehistoric man. This significant discovery happened just at the time when the scientific world fierce controversy about whether the fossil man even existed. In a cave on Hušnjakovo discovered the remains of various mow forty individuals, and the bones belong mainly early humans neanderthal type.
